It does in fact turn out that the kid's name is Mohamed. Heck, the justice minister hearing the case is named Mohamed.

Sometimes "Different" is Wrong
The flower children attitude of the 60's, the Sesame Street teachings they spawned, "It isn't wrong, just different" and that we shouldn't fear those who are different, doesn't make much sense to me when I read this story. I do fear people like this, I really do, and I think we should do anything in our power to keep them from gaining influence in the world.
I'm not talking about a holy war wherein we irradicate Islam. Don't be silly if that's what you think. Who I mean are the people who can be so cruel and blind.

What's in a Name II
I was under the impression that Mohammad was the single most popular muslim name.

Everything's Okay
I like this. I like the idea of it. I think it is something that will satisfy both scientists and theologians.
To science it is a unifying theory that can be examined and quantified. To theologians it is the fingerprint of God. It is sufficiently complex to make even the most ardent doubter wonder if there was a designer after all.
Indeed, there is...
"What makes this group of symmetries so exciting is that Nature also seems to have embedded it at the heart of many bits of physics. One interpretation of why we have such a quirky list of fundamental particles is because they all result from different facets of the strange symmetries of E8. I find it rather extraordinary that of all the symmetries that mathematician’s have discovered, it is this exotic exceptional object that Nature has used to build the fabric of the universe. The symmetries are so intricate and complex that today’s announcement of the complete mapping of E8 is a significant moment in our exploration of symmetry.' "

Separation of Church and State: Romney vs. Huckabee
I was examining the candadates today. I do that so I can make an informed choice. I reccommend that to everyone. I examine both parties. I had yet to look into Mike Huckabee so I did so today. I found something interesting on his site, that actually helped me make up my mind about something.
"My faith is my life - it defines me. My faith doesn't influence my decisions, it drives them. For example, when it comes to the environment, I believe in being a good steward of the earth. I don't separate my faith from my personal and professional lives."
Mitt Romney obviously doesn't feel this way. Going on a mission is a huge event in the life of a Latter-day Saint. When I went to Romney's site, there was no mention of it there. His church service, which is far greater than Huckabee's wasn't mentioned either. I disrespect this. Reading that blurb on Huckabee's site has helped me to decide, I will not vote for Mitt Romney. I do not respect him and I must in order to support him.
I'm not saying whom I will vote for, but this is at least one person I will not.

Ben Stein is EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed

I can't wait to see this. I have never gone to see a documentary (sorry Mr. Moore) but this one has piqued my interest.

Us vs. Them
From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
“Seriously, Richardson, the governor of New Mexico, called on the government to declassify all Roswell documents. He brought it up himself when Chris Matthews was joking about Kucinich's UFO answer. He said the government hasn't "come clean" on the issue. His campaign will surely say he was joking, he has a sense of humor. But even though he was laughing in some parts of that answer, he wasn't joking about THAT.
Matthews looked on in disbelief and joked that this is shaping up to be a contest between the de-evolution party and the pro-UFO party.“
I think that last line is prescient. That’s really what it is coming down to. Those who want to hold to traditional values and beliefs, and those who want to leave the past, even the entire earth, behind for some pie in the sky fancy tale. So many of these people will dismiss the Bible as a fable, a myth, yet they don’t realize what they have replaced it seems even more farfetched to most.
