Designer Defects

When I read THIS article I couldn't say anything at first except for "holy crap" with my jaw slack afterward. Many people have worried about the idea of designer babies. A parent who wants a blue eyed child could easily get one. I never for a moment thought that anyone would want to design birth defects into a child. Lets say two little people want to have a child but they don't want it to be average sized but a little person like themselves, they could have the doctor genetically alter the child to do that.

First, if you are that child, it seems you would hate your parents. If you don't hate them, hey, start, because they are wicked people doing mean things to little babies. Does that sound harsh? Perhaps there's a little overkill in that statement, but I really feel this is just immoral.

If we are to believe in natural selection, which many do, then this is shooting ourselves in the evolutionary foot. As a parent I really wanted my children to be healthy and normal. I think it is selfish for a parent to want their child to be unhealthy just becuase they are. Lets face it, despite what evolution teaches, mutations are not helping the human family, they all seem to create problems. Take the example of dwarfism: it isn't just short people, they have other health problems as well. Why would a parent wish that on their children? I just can't fathom that kind of selfishness.

If I were blind I would want my children to see, so they could experience what I was missing, so they could get the fullest out of the world in which we live. The same if I were deaf or a little person.

At first I thought this sort of thing would never happen and is just the fancy of some ethisist somewhere doing a thesis. However, the story indicates that some doctors have already done this. This should be considered assault because it brings harm to an otherwise healthy human. The results of this will be with that individual their entire life all becuase of a selfish parent. If you have this sort of notion in your head, do us all a favor, don't have kids. If you do, your millstone is waiting!

Media Shows Irrational Hysteria on Global Warming

This story is really very telling. Sometimes I use small quotes but in this case you really just need to read the whole article to get the full impact of what has been foisted upon us! This researches claims that another researcher actually put out false data when the real data didn't support global warming. See, just like the article I quoted the other day about the warm period 1300 years ago such things don't fit well with the prevailing attitude on global warming.

I didn't intend for this blog to be a skreigh against global warming but more and more stories are popping up about the subject that I just have to say something. After all, this is about what makes me indignant and junk science does just that. What does it even more is when they actually lie about the data. The fellow in the article talks about a period of warming called the midieval warming period which totally ruins the idea that man is causing global warming with our cars and factories since such things didn't exist back then. So, instead of looking at global warming and doing what a real scientist would do, the kind of scientist they tell us they are, and actually look at the data and question the theory this fellow simply erases the entire period of warming that doesn't neatly fit his ideas.

That sort of dishonesty should be punished by society in the good old fashioned way it used to be, by removing our trust from those who lie. Now, of course the other guy could be the one lying, I will recognize that possibilty, however, the more I learn about global warming, the more I realize it is a fraud. I am at a point now, where there is so much evidence against it, that I look at those who do "believe" in it as having something wrong with them. Tell me you have faith in global warming and I will leave you alone, tell me it is a fact and I will ridicule you, lie to me about it and I will be indignant.

Just a quick note on THIS STORY: What made it so hot 1300 years ago? Big oil in the Alps? No one ever seems to ask these questions. Why is that?
